Welcome to IES COMMUNICATIONS located in St. Catharines, Ontario. We are specialists in Wireless Communications for consumers, hobbyists and professionals. We have three main divisions: First: Land Mobile Radio which includes Mobiles, Portables, Base Stations and Repeaters in the traditional Two Way Radio Marketplace, Second: Recreational Radio which includes Marine Radio & Associated Equipment, Amateur (Ham) Radio, CB, Airband Radio and Shotwave VHF/UHF Communication Receivers/Scanners. Our Third division produces Wireless LAN/WAN networking equipment as well as consulting services for Wireless ISP services and manufactures HotSpot systems. We also operate a Hotspot system at the St. Catharines Marina in Port Weller East which provides boaters and nearby residences with Internet Service!

We are a Canadian Distributor for PACCOMM PACKET RADIO SYSTEMS, one of the most innovative manufacturers of Packet Radio Equipment. The main thrust of this equipment is in the Vehicle Location Field with several products designed for personal and vehicle location using GPS technology. A GPS receiver is attached to a Terminal Node Controller (TNC) then interfaced to a Radio Transceiver. The GPS receiver determines the location, the TNC interfaces the GPS to the Radio and the radio reports its position to a receiving location. The receiving location displays the location information on a computer screen with a map overlay thereby indicating vehicle location. In Amateur Radio we use APRS as the software.
